Extending the functionality of Cambridge Audio's critically acclaimed integrated stereo Azur amplifiers and AV receivers are two phono pre-amplifiers. The entry-level 540P is a high quality Moving Magnet design featuring single-ended 'Class A' gain stages and discrete transistors instead of the more common integrated circuits. This gives less cross-talk and interference across the signal path. The 540P employs an active RIAA equalisation system. The rear panel benefits from gold plated input connectors to minimise signal path interference and reduce surface degradation. An external power supply comes as standard.

The 640P phono pre-amplifier (sometimes known as a phono stage) also uses superior amplification circuitry for its MM and MC stages to provide the lowest possible distortion and noise. In addition, the flagship model employs multi-parallel capacitors to achieve exceptional RIAA accuracy of only 0.3dB up to 50kHz and features a defeatable subsonic filter. The Azur 640P phono pre-amplifier employs a comprehensively specified Moving Magnet stage, as well as the higher gain needed for compatibility with high-end Moving Coil (MC) cartridges. This raft of technologies combines to offer a hugely dynamic, involving and open sound.
The 640P features the now customary Azur acoustically damped steel chassis and a robust anodised aluminium front plate.

Many of today's stereo and AV amplifiers and receivers have either eliminated the phonograph input altogether, or included a low cost—and low performance—circuit for attaching your turntable. The PP 2i offers superb performance in a clean and simple package for a very reasonable cost. The NAD PP 2i is a vastly improved successor to the very popular PP 2, with its new power supply that reduces power consumption to new standards.
PP-2i Phono Preamplifier Features
- Selectable MM and MC Phono Stage
- External 24 volt Power Supply
- Gold Plated Sockets
- Close Tolerance High Quality Components

NAD’s PP-3 combines the award winning PP-2 MM/MC Phono Preamp with a high quality Analog-to-Digital converter with USB interface. Utilizing VinylStudio™ Lite PC Software (CD included - Apple Computers not supported) copy your LPs directly to a PC as either .wav or .mp3 files. Once your analog LPs are digitized, the music can be burned onto CD-Rs’ or transferred to portable music players. The PP-3 also includes the same analog outputs as the PP-2 for connection to an analog stereo system.
The PP-3 phono preamp consists of a low noise discrete MC preamp followed by a low noise opamp-based RIAA MM stage incorporating a 12 dB /octave infrasonic filter to attenuate turntable “rumble” noise. The output feeds the Line Output as well as the soft clipped input of an A/D converter with USB Output. This can be connected to any PC for recording from vinyl disc to PC hard drive. (Apple Computers not supported)
